The Arab Monetary Fund hosts the 9th Annual Arab Fiscal Forum to address fiscal resilience challenges and economic sustainability

The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF), in collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and in partnership with the Ministry of Finance of the United Arab Emirates, is organizing the Ninth Annual Arab Fiscal Forum under the theme: “Fiscal Resilience in an Era of Uncertainty: Balancing Development Needs, Climate Action, and Debt Sustainability”

The forum, which is being held today, brings together Arab finance ministers, central bank governors, and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, alongside senior officials, experts from international and regional financial institutions, and representatives from Arab finance ministries and central banks.

As a key platform for discussing economic and financial challenges facing Arab nations, the forum will examine macroeconomic developments and their implications for fiscal policies, explore policy design options to address mounting debt pressures, and promote financial sustainability. Discussions will cover the role of fiscal policy in enhancing resilience to climate change and modernizing tax systems to keep pace with global economic shifts.

His Excellency Dr. Fahad M. Alturki, Director General Chairman of the Board of the Arab Monetary Fund, emphasized the forum’s significance as a strategic platform for Arab policymakers to exchange experiences and best practices, contributing to regional economic and financial stability. He reaffirmed the AMF’s commitment to supporting its member states through technical advisory services, economic analysis, and institutional capacity-building efforts to enhance public financial sustainability.

H.E. also highlighted that this year’s forum reflects the pressing challenges facing Arab economies amid global economic shifts, underscoring the need for balanced fiscal policies that ensure financial stability while advancing sustainable development goals. He also praised the collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Finance and the IMF, reaffirming the importance of strengthening regional and international financial cooperation to address global economic challenges.

The Ninth Annual Arab Fiscal Forum is part of the Arab Monetary Fund’s ongoing efforts to foster collaboration among member states and provide a dynamic platform for discussions on fiscal reforms and economic sustainability, ultimately contributing to long-term economic development across the Arab region.
